Cookie & Storage Policy

Effective: 1 June 2026  ·  Last updated: June 2026

Short version: We do not use tracking cookies, analytics, or advertising. The only browser storage we use is a small amount of localStorage to remember your preferences on this device; no personal data is ever stored or transmitted via this storage.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites. They are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you logged in, and track behaviour across the web.

This website does not set any HTTP cookies. Instead, we use browser localStorage, a client-side storage mechanism that keeps data only on your device and never sends it to a server.

2. What We Store & Why

We use four localStorage items. None of them contain personal data.

Key Purpose Data stored Type
snb-theme Remembers your preferred colour theme (dark or light) so it persists across visits without a flash of the wrong theme. String: "dark" or "light" Preference
snb-v Records that you have visited the site before, so the intro loading animation is skipped on return visits. String: "1" Session state
snb-work-lead Tracks which featured project was last shown in the "Recent Projects" section so they rotate on each visit. Number: 0, 1, or 2 UI state
snb-last-submit Stores the timestamp of your last contact form submission to prevent rapid repeated submissions (rate limiting). No personal data, only a Unix timestamp number. Number (Unix timestamp) Security

All of the above are stored locally on your device only. They are not accessible to any third party, are not transmitted to our servers, and do not contain personally identifiable information.

3. What We Do NOT Use

We confirm that this website does not use:

4. Third-Party Resources

Our website loads resources from the following third-party CDNs. These third parties may log standard server access data (IP address, request URL, timestamp) as part of normal CDN operation, but we do not receive this data and it is governed by their own policies:

We have no control over how these third parties process data. We have loaded Google Fonts and GSAP using asynchronous loading techniques to minimise performance impact, and we only connect to Web3Forms when you actively submit the contact form.

5. How to Clear Our Stored Data

You can remove all localStorage data we have stored at any time through your browser settings:

Clearing this data will reset your theme preference to dark mode and show the intro animation on your next visit, both of which are minor inconveniences with no other consequences.

6. Legal Basis

The localStorage items described above are strictly necessary for the website to function as designed (theme persistence, animation control) or relate to security (rate limiting). They do not require your consent under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 or the EU ePrivacy Directive as they contain no personal data and serve only functional purposes.

If you have any concerns, please contact us using the details below.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if we change the way we use storage. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
